Meet Tatyana
Welcome — I’m glad you’re here.
I’m Tatyana Dikareva, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and a Canadian Clinical Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). As a trauma-informed counsellor, I’m here to support you on a transformative journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth.
With a strong background in educational counselling and extensive experience supporting individuals through cultural adjustment, crisis, and settlement, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work. As an immigrant from Ukraine who made Kamloops home in 2012, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating a new environment and identity. My personal journey, including the profound grief of losing both parents to cancer in my late twenties, has deeply shaped my approach and strengthened my belief in the human capacity for resilience.
In our sessions, we’ll explore your life experiences with compassion, curiosity, and even a touch of playfulness. I believe that while trauma, loss, or negative life experiences may shape our path, they do not define us. Our wounds carry wisdom, and through embracing them, we can reconnect with our authentic selves. Together, we’ll work to mend your relationship with yourself and transform your past into a source of strength and empowerment.
You are not alone in this. Let’s walk this path together — gently, bravely, and with intention — as we rediscover the strength and beauty within you.
Education & Professional Development
As a dedicated counsellor, I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and am passionate about providing high-quality services that adhere to the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) ethical guidelines. To ensure the most effective support for my clients, I engage in ongoing trauma supervision and play therapy consultations.
I have specialized training in a variety of trauma-informed modalities, including:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
OEI (Observed and Experiential Integration)
Sandtray EMDR
Polyvagal Safe and Sound Protocol
Synergetic Play Therapy
Murray Method: Becoming a Healthy, Balanced Person
My approach is also informed by a range of integrative and evidence-based modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy. These frameworks support deeper emotional awareness, strengthen self-compassion, and offer practical tools for managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. I draw from these approaches to create a personalized, flexible experience that meets each client’s unique needs.
In addition to these modalities, I am committed to continuous professional development (PD) and ongoing education to stay up-to-date with the latest therapeutic practices. My commitment to lifelong learning ensures that I can offer the most relevant, evidence-based practices to support your healing journey.
Why It Matters
The ongoing supervision and specialized training I engage in are vital for maintaining the highest standard of care, ensuring that the therapies I provide are aligned with your unique needs and goals. My approach is rooted in compassion, expertise, and a deep commitment to fostering meaningful, long-term change.
